Louis Vuitton was born on 4 august 1821 in Anchay, Jura France and he is best known as a founder of the best luxury monogrammed luggage company in the world. He began manufacturing trunks in Paris in 1854. His high quality traveling trunks become a big hit very quickly and he become internationally famous after he won bronze medal at the 1867 World's Fair and a gold medal at the 1889 World's Fair, both held in Paris.

In 1885 Louis Vuitton store opens in London. There are several important events in the history of company:

• creation of monogram canvas by George Vuitton (son of Louis Vuitton) in 1896
• inauguration of the store on the Champs-Elysses in Paris in 1914
• merger of Moet Hennessy and Louis Vuitton and creation of LVMH 1987
